The role;

  • Reporting to The Head of Sales, the purpose of the role is to provide a broadly-based estimating and applications engineering function in support of bids and proposals prepared by the sales engineering team.

Candidate profile;

  • A broad experience of current manufacturing methods and particularly of metal fabrications.
  • A well-developed sense of business acumen.
  • An eye for detail with and an aptitude for recognising trends and variance.
  • Highly numerate.
  • A good appreciation of the theoretical vs. the practically possible.
  • Previous project management experience would be desirable.
  • Previous CAD experience and an ability to generate 2D models in support of cost estimates would be an advantage.
  • Educated to degree or HNC level in manufacturing engineering or surveying.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit
  • A good team player; an individual who is self-aware and who applies emotional intelligence to enhance his/her effectivity.
  • The ability to function and to deliver within a climate of ambiguity.

Key tasks;

  • Respond to sales enquiries by producing accurate cost estimates of materials and labour required to fully execute project bid proposals.

Reporting to The Head of Sales, you will assume responsibility for the management and development of the company’s external relationships with all new and existing clients in the UK and internationally. This to include; an envied portfolio of blue-chip Supermarket and general retail trade customers, System Integrators, Prime Contractors and Specifiers.

You can demonstrate a knowledge of current trends and issues in warehousing, logistics & distribution, retail, storage and self-storage throughout the UK and Europe. Moreover, our preferred candidate must be equally comfortable when negotiating contracts at a senior level or when “hands on” resolving day-to-day customer issues.

Educated to degree level, you are already a successful Sales Manager or Key Account Manager with a strong background in engineering sales and business development who is now looking for their next career step. Your success to date will have been achieved through the sales and delivery of technically complex, engineered systems to relevant clients in the UK and possibly internationally. Your skills & experience should include;

  • Strong broadly based business skills including financial management, strategy development, commercial modelling and vision setting.

As Supplier manager you will participate as a member of the Group Executive supply chain management team, providing strategic leadership and vision in support of the corporate function including supply chain strategy, supplier selection, contract terms and conditions, development of overall purchasing processes, supplier management and procedures as well as supplier consolidation/reduction. This senior position will also require that the incumbent play an active role as mentor and coach to team members as while supporting the closer integration of Material Planning, SQA and Buying departments.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related degree is considered a pre-requisite and preference will be given to applicants with an additional Masters Degree or MBA from a leading business school. We expect a minimum of 5 years of purchasing/supply chain management experience in progressively senior positions preferably within a metals and composite materials manufacturing environment. Engineering & Quality Manager – Aerospace

Reporting at Management Board level, this ‘hands-on’ role of Engineering & Quality Manager will assume responsibility for the leadership of all engineering and quality management including continuous improvement (CI) resources.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • To provide leadership and strategic direction to all engineering resources.
  • Ensure that all manufactured products are comprehensively planned & engineered utilising optimum manufacturing methods and technologies.
  • To continuously review all engineering methods and manufacturing processes including CNC programming to improve and drive the adoption of industry best practice also recommending and justifying appropriate capex projects when required.
  • Manage the new product introduction process from customer quotation & estimating through the NPI / APQP process to production readiness.
  • To identify, develop, retain and motivate engineering talent within the business.
  • Provide a strategic focus to facilitate a robust CI culture utilising tools such as 6S, PFMEA’s, zero defects and lean manufacturing.
  • To serve as a key member of the businesses senior management team providing support to all functions as required.
  • Coach, lead and manage all associates to embrace a culture of never-ending improvement in safety, productivity, quality and cost.

Our preferred candidates will offer the following experience and character traits;

  • An engineering degree.
  • Training and development within a manufacturing engineering discipline.
  • Five to ten years’ experience within a precision engineering manufacturing business, ideally aerospace or automotive and with at least the last two years’ spent in engineering management.
  • Hands-on experience of working with lean tools and TPS methods.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of computer based MRP systems and shop floor loading tools.
  • Extensive experience of a wide range of manufacturing techniques including CNC machining & fabrications in the Aerospace sector.
  • An ability to think clearly and logically while acting decisively.
  • A completer finisher with the innate ability to make things happen.

For clients in the rail sector, its teams provide independent assurance and technical expertise across all key industry disciplines, including fleet management, signaling and train control, operations and business strategy.

To support its growing reputation within the Spanish rail market, the business is looking to recruit a Business Manager to lead its Madrid-based team.

The existing Spanish rail business has an established portfolio of clients for its assurance services, the objective now is to extend its capabilities and service offering in the consulting and technical products spheres.  The Business Manager will be responsible for overseeing this expansion, including new client development, business performance, operational management and project delivery.

This new role presents an exciting opportunity for a rail professional who possesses the drive and the ambition to step up to the challenge, and who would enjoy the opportunities and responsibilities of developing a successful and growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • To build, manage and grow a successful consulting & products business within all Spanish speaking markets
  • Develop the order book pipeline for the Business Area.
  • Act as Bid Manager, Project Director and/or Project Manager for appropriate projects.
  • Oversee the delivery of projects in the business area.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales deals
  • Report on project performance, P&L performance, order book and opportunities funnel.
  • Plan, create and report future market opportunities and monitor competitor activities.

  • Monitor, manage, communicate and report Quality, Health & Safety processes to ensure a safe and to comply with internal and external requirements and provide a safe & healthy environment for employees

Personal Profile.

A degree qualified engineer with substantial industry and operational experience in the Rail sector within Spain. Key attributes and previous experience of the successful candidate will include:

  • Degree qualified in suitable engineering discipline with profound knowledge of the Spanish Rail Market and management experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the rail sector
  • A wide appreciation of all rail disciplines and competencies.
  • Proven success in client relationship building and business management.
  • Substantial experience of working in a professional services environment.
  • Self-starter, ability to create opportunities and to develop them into profitable business.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver projects on time and budget.
  • Proven experience of effective performance management.
  • Intercultural sensitivity, experienced in working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to present to a high professional standard, both orally and in writing, to individuals and to groups.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English language; able to negotiate and to present complex technical items as well as contractual arrangements in either language.
